A Podcast Born From a Single Conversation

It started at an ushering event. Abdelrahman had an idea — a podcast about people who had walked extraordinary paths. He pitched the concept on the spot, and the response was immediate and enthusiastic: the person loved it and agreed to be the first guest.

That spark ignited a 7-day sprint. Concept. Equipment. Brand. Episodes. All built in a single week driven by passion, urgency, and the deep love of storytelling.

His Instagram documents the entire wild journey — every challenge, every late night, every breakthrough in the making of Abl Matefham.

What Drives the Podcast

Abdelrahman El Shafei is an Engineering student at GUC (German University in Cairo). Like many of us, he grew up listening to podcasts — drawn to the intimacy of real conversation, the rawness of real stories.

But he wanted more. He wanted to hear from people who had built something in Egypt — entrepreneurs, dreamers, those who had taken the unusual road. And he wanted to ask them: what was it like before anyone understood?

"The best stories aren't about success — they're about the moment before it all made sense."— The Podcast's Guiding Philosophy

An Engineer Who Tells Stories

Abdelrahman El Shafei is an Engineering student at the German University in Cairo (GUC). While his days are filled with systems, schematics, and solutions, his passion lives in a very different kind of architecture — the architecture of a life well-lived, a business built from scratch, a path that made no sense to anyone until, suddenly, it made perfect sense to everyone.

Abdelrahman has been a podcast listener for years. He was drawn to the format's intimacy — the way a good conversation could peel back the surface of someone's story and reveal the human underneath. Not the highlight reel, but the hard chapters. Not the TED Talk polished version, but the messy, real, Egyptian version.

"I wanted to hear from people who had done remarkable things — but I wanted to hear the part they don't usually talk about. Before it all clicked. Before you could explain it. Abl Matefham."— Abdelrahman El Shafei

He launched the podcast after an ushering event where, on impulse, he pitched his idea to someone in passing. That person's immediate excitement — "I love this, I'll be your first guest" — became the catalyst that pushed Abdelrahman to build the entire podcast in just 7 days. The name, the brand, the equipment, the first episode. All of it, in a single determined week.

His Instagram became a live documentary of the process — every challenge, every creative decision, every late night working on the show that didn't exist yet. Thousands watched the journey unfold in real time.
